Capturing the Generations
The Starting Point Annual Fundraising Banquet, themed “Capturing the Generations,” was the perfect way to celebrate 35 years of service to Knox County.
It was an evening full of sharing ministry updates and honoring those who have impacted Starting Point and our community this past year. It is exciting to cast the vision forward for the upcoming year as well.
Client story: Miles and Justus’ story of hope was shared. It shows how their thinking changed from abortion being the only option to choosing life and parenting for their new family. With the support of their parents and Starting Point, they are building a firm foundation for their future.
Volunteer story: Laura Sanders’ unique family with three children, all with Down Syndrome, shared how her family walked through child loss, disabilities, post-partum depression and now volunteering as a Starting Point Church Liaison as a challenge for others to become involved.
Donor story: Jon Jones of Heartland Promotional Products was heavily influenced by his parents’ passion for pro-life ministries. He is now able to share his expertise, discounts and resources with local pregnancy centers because of their legacy for life.
Lois Carter, The Lifetime Service Award recipient, was chosen for the volunteering she does at Starting Point and many other ministries in Knox County. “The next generation will be told about the Lord,” taken from Psalms 22:30b, is being lived out in her service to our community. To honor Lois, Zoey Hover, a freshman at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, was awarded a $1000 scholarship hrough a Legacy Gift from the Starting Point Board of Directors.
Dr. Carson Castleman, the new President of MVNU did an amazing job of connecting with each partner, volunteer and staff member. He inspired those in attendance with a “call to action” to support the ministry and work of Starting Point.
Prayer support, financial support from businesses, families and individuals, along with physical volunteer support at the center are equally necessary to propel this ministry forward. Starting Point exists to show God’s Truth and Love to this generation in the areas of unplanned pregnancy and healthy relationships with resources and education for all who need us.
It’s not too late to help Starting Point reach our fundraising goal. We appreciate each gift and partner. Thank you for allowing us to thrive in Knox County for 35 years!
