Hope through the Church

Hope through the Church

The local church offers love, support and a safe place to learn about God’s amazing design for a healthy home. That is why we are proud to partner with over 30 churches in Knox County that spread Gospel transformation in our community.

Did you know that going to church makes you a healthier person?

Healthier Behaviors-Churches often discourage unhealthy behaviors like excessive alcohol consumption and drug use while promoting healthier ones like exercise. Spiritual practices like prayer and worship can trigger a relaxation response that decreases stress, heart rate and blood pressure.

Community & Social Support-Church attendance fosters a sense of belonging and offers a support network. Both are known to

positively impact well-being.

Purpose & Meaning-Faith communities can provide a framework for understanding life’s challenges and foster a stronger sense of purpose and life satisfaction.

If you have been hurt by people in the church, you are not alone. “The church hasn’t always been the best role model when it comes to family. There have been times in the past in my ministry that we have leaned more toward judgement than grace. And sadly, we’ve all seen examples of leaders who fell morally, or some churches that became so focused on rules and control that they ended up hurting people instead of helping them. That’s not the way of Jesus.” (Dave Jones, Pastor at Millwood Church of Christ).

However, Starting Point and our partnering churches are offering hope to our community.

Brian Wolfe, Executive Pastor of Lifepoint Church, explains, “As the church lives life together, families have spiritual, emotional and physical support to live life as designed by God.” By offering counseling, education and practical support that churches on their own can’t always provide, Starting Point is making a real difference. It’s about working together so families can be restored resulting in a strong community for all.
