How busy are you?
We live in a world of restless change, endless busyness, and increasing loss of community. It may seem like the price of progress. But here at Starting Point, we witness firsthand the impact our changing culture is having on the health of families. The struggle is real and many families are strained to the breaking point. We asked two local pastors to give their perspectives.
In your opinion and based on your experience, what is the biggest challenge families face in our culture today?
Bryan Wolf, Executive Pastor of Lifepoint Church - Mount Vernon:
“I would say that one of the biggest challenges of families in Knox County (our culture) today is busyness. Many families have so many commitments that they are always on the run, and it becomes hard for them to prioritize the things that are most important. I believe that they are ultimately looking for community. When they can’t find it in the church, or are hesitant to search for it there, they fill their lives with activities.”
Dave Jones, Lead Minister of Millwood Church of Christ:
“One of the biggest challenges families face today is simply staying connected. Life is busy, schedules are overloaded and technology is always buzzing. Families are juggling sports, school activities, and family meals can end up feeling like ships passing in the night.”
