What is a Pregnancy & Family Resource Center?

As stakeholders in Knox County for nearly 34 years, we at Starting Point would like to introduce ourselves to those who may not yet know about this life-affirming organization. We are a faith-based, non-profit Pregnancy and Family Resource Center dedicated to helping young women and men make informed decisions about their relationships and future families.

Those needing help will not only find free pregnancy and STI testing, OB-ultrasounds and evidence-based options education, but they will discover a safe, non-judgmental environment with volunteer mentors and loving support available long after their initial decision process.

Starting Point also provides free licensed counseling for many issues, including relational trauma and after-abortion care for those experiencing the emotional side-effects of past decisions.

A recent national study indicated that 74% of abortion patients surveyed felt they did not have enough information for the weight of the decision they were making, and 59% said they felt pressured to terminate and would have made another decision if they thought support was available….

This is why STARTING POINT exists!

In addition to pregnancy decision care, Starting Point offers parenting education, birthing classes, material support through the Boutique and the opportunity to learn and grow with other new moms and dads. After attending a recent group event, one young mom said,

“It’s SO nice to socialize with people other than my kids and doctor!”
