Good News for Ohio
Dear Starting Point Family,
Since the elections last year, much debate and tension have reigned in our state. As we anxiously await changes that will likely be made to Ohio’s abortion laws in the wake of Issue One's passage, we still have good news to share with you.
Ohio’s largest Christian public policy organization, Center for Christian Virtue (CCV) seeks the good of our state by advocating for public policy that reflects the truth of the Gospel. We are blessed to have such a diligent organization leading the battle cry for those of us who want truth to reign. CCV rallies state lawmakers and brings about change in our legislation that mirrors what we value at Starting Point.
This short article from the CCV sums up an important victory for Ohio about passing the Saving Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act and Save Women’s Sports Act, now known collectively as House Bill 68 (HB68):
“Earlier this year, we achieved a major victory for Ohio.
After more than six years of relentless effort, we passed the Saving Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act and Save Women's Sports Act, known as House Bill 68 (HB68).
Even though we're disappointed by the Ohio Supreme Court's decision to deny the Attorney General's request to overturn Judge Holbrook's illegal decision to block HB68 while the ACLU's lawsuit is being heard, we're confident that the lawsuit will ultimately fail and the law will take effect. In the meantime, the story of passing the bill into law is still one worth sharing and celebrating.
Center for Christian Virtue led the effort from the start when a Cincinnati couple lost custody of their daughter because they would not consent to high-dose testosterone as a "treatment" for her mental health struggles.
To change the culture and attitudes toward these experimental procedures, CCV collaborated with and educated legislators, engaged the body of Christ, and worked across ideological lines and demographics to organize testimony from detransitioners, parents, physicians, lawyers, and other experts.
In those six years, the bill went from one that no one wanted to touch to one that a veto-proof majority of legislators were proud to support.
To commemorate this victory, we told the behind-the-scenes story of passing HB68 in a documentary video that debuted at our 2024 Cincinnati Celebration Gala with Riley Gaines and Chloe Cole. The video is now available for all of our friends to watch on YouTube.”

In sharing this win with you, I hope you’ll celebrate the victory of the years of work it took to pass this critical legislation to protect women and children. The Lord is with the righteous as it says in Psalm 37:27-‘’Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.’’ In unity we declare our prayers to be a force upholding righteousness in the great State of Ohio.
Fighting the good fight of faith with you,
Jenn Furay
